This commemorative postage stamp was issued in May 1967 by Sudan to mark Palestine Day and show formal political alignment with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Releasing dedicated postal issues for political milestones allowed the Sudanese postal administration to demonstrate diplomatic solidarity and highlight regional anti-colonial movements across civil correspondence. The issue was released to mark May 15, commemorating the 1948 displacement (Nakba) and the end of the British Mandate, while formally recognizing the PLO following its founding in 1964. By distributing this issue, Sudan reaffirmed its commitment to pan-Arab foreign policy goals and expressed support for Palestinian self-determination on the international stage.
